Abili si diventa
“Abili si becoming” is an adapted motor activity course aimed at university students with disabilities. An initiative born from the collaboration between the University Service Center for Assistance and Integration of Disabled Students “S.A.I.S.D.”, CUS Pavia and the “LAMA” Adapted Motor Activity Laboratory, belonging to the Faculty of Motor Sciences of the University of Pavia.
The course aims to promote autonomy and improve the daily life of those with motor disabilities and in particular for those who move in wheelchairs. We therefore propose routes in which the participant must use different skills to reach the finish line. Each program is customized to meet the needs of members.
The meetings are held twice a week and last two hours. The course makes use of tutors and a variable number of interns who are students of the degree course in Sports Sciences.
Carrying out physical activity also contributes to the fight against biological aging by controlling degenerative processes, significantly helping to prevent cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, diabetes, cholesterol and osteoporosis. The benefits induced by regular and targeted physical activity concern the improvement of cardiovascular functions, elasticity and muscle tone, strength, segmental and global coordination and balance. All these physiological, metabolic and functional benefits are combined with no less important psychological advantages that a group activity is able to guarantee.
